Team Rempel

Hannah's curling journey began at the age of 7 when her grandfather introduced her to the sport. Her first competitive event was U18 Provincials in 2017 and she has competed in several events since then — including placing gold at the 2020 BC Winter Games and winning the Canada Winter Games qualifier.

Her goal for the 2022/23 season is to medal at U18 Provincials and at the Canada Winter Games. She is entering her first year of university at UBC and is working on her degrees in Music and Education. She plays several instruments, including bassoon, trumpet, and trombone. Writing and singing are also important pastimes.

Fun fact: She has a large Pokémon card collection

Lauren began curling 6 years ago and has had much success in her career. Her goal is to medal at the 2023 Canada Winter Games as well as win the U18 Championships. Lauren loves being involved in the curling community by being a member of the Curl BC Youth Advisory Council and is very proud to have received the Sportsmanship Award at the 2021 U18 Provincial Championships.

Outside of curling, she is passionate about singing, skiing, snowboarding, photography and gardening. Lauren is bilingual and will be graduating from KSS June 2023.

Megan has grown up with the sport of curling and plans to medal at the Canada Winter Games. She also strives to win the 2022 U18 Provincials with Team Rempel. Megan is on the BC Winter Games curling team for the Zone 7 region competing in Vernon March 2023. She is a huge lover of cats, rainy weather, the colour green, math, and writing. Megan also likes puzzles and plays video games such as Zelda, Minecraft and FNAF. She enjoys school, puzzles, biking, painting and art. Music is a big part of her life and she plays clarinet, piano, ocarina and the accordion. Fun fact: She is the smart kid at the back of the class

Ella is a recent grade 12 grad and began curling in grade 4 in Lake Country at the Winfield Curling Club. She joined Team Rempel and played third in the 2021/2022 season including the U18 Provincial Championships. Classic cars and her jeep are her passions along with travelling and volunteering with junior curling program. The Lake Country Fire Department is benefitting from her dedication as a member of the Junior Firefighters Program. Snowboarding is always something she tries to squeeze into a busy winter season. A multi positional player with the team, Ella is always quick to smile and make everyone laugh while on the ice.

Fun Fact: Ella logged almost 300 hours in the air working for a local zip line adventure park during the summer of 2022

Claire is a multi sport decorated athlete who joined Team Rempel in 2022. Her primary sport is sailing and her first regatta was at the age of 8. She was a member of the 2020 and 2021 Opti World Sailing Team and is now focused on kiting and trains in Squamish for part of the summer. Sailing takes her to many parts of Canada and internationally for training and competitions throughout the year. Claire is also on the BC Winter Games curling team for the Zone 7 region competing in Vernon March 2023. Claire attends online school and the Pacific Sports School for her education and if she isn’t sailing she would be thinking about sailing anyways, drumming or practicing curling and martial arts.

Fun Fact: Claire will be graduating at the age of 16 in June 2023

Wendy is passionate about curling and has been curling competitively for 47 years. She has reached the National Championship Level 3 times winning a bronze medal at the Senior National Championships in 2015 and a gold medal at the Canada Senior Games in 2018. Wendy is an experienced certified high-performance coach with Curl BC and is excited to be coaching the talented Team Rempel team. As Team BC, going to the Canada Winter Games in February 2023 being held in PEI, we look forward to an intense and wonderful year.
